BENEFITS
At its best, massage has the potential to restore the individual physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually
Massage therapy is considered a complementary approach to health care that is effective in reducing stress and relieving muscle soreness.
It involves the manipulation of the body’s soft tissues (skin, muscles, ligaments and tendons) to help restore balance in the body. Many techniques are used including stroking, muscle squeezing and gentle kneading, as well as deeper techniques that help to reduce tension in the deeper parts of the muscle.

Massage also stimulates blood circulation and assists the lymphatic system, improving the elimination of wastes throughout the body. It can stimulate or calm the nervous system, depending on what is required by the individual, thus helping reduce fatigue, leaving the receiver with a feeling of replenished energy. It can be preventative or restorative, helping to maintain, rehabilitate, augment physical function or relieve pain.
Massage therapy is an effective way to help speed the healing process after accidents or illnesses and helps to reduce the effects of chronic conditions such as Parkinson’s Disease, MS, and many more. It is also effective in treating insomnia and digestive and respiratory conditions. It promotes a sense of well-being and relaxation that strengthens the immune system, thereby preventing illness.
Examples of Conditions Effectively Treated with Massage Therapy
Tension Headaches • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome • Tendonitis (Tennis Elbow, Golfer’s Elbow, Bicipital, Achilles etc) • Low Back Pain • Sciatica • Patella Femoral Pain Syndrome • IT Band Syndrome • Plantar Fasciitis • Bursitis • Poor Posture
ABOUT
Registered Massage Therapist based in Bloor West Village in Toronto
My interest in massage therapy began after I was involved in a serious car accident in 1996. One of the bones in my knee had to be replaced. While recovering from surgery, I had my first experience with massage. I was struck by how much massage helped in regaining the range of motion in my knee and reducing the degree of pain I suffered as a result of the accident.

After the accident, I began to train seriously for competitive rowing. As a varsity athlete at the University of Toronto, I was given access to massage through the school’s athletic department. It proved to be a great complement to my training as it helped to prevent repetitive stress injuries and kept my muscles in good condition.
These experiences inspired me to explore massage as a career.
I completed the two-year program at Sutherland-Chan School and Teaching Clinic in 2004 and became a Registered Massage Therapist. My experience at the school taught me to appreciate the value that massage can have for people in all walks and stages of life.
I am currently an avid road cyclist and enjoy taking part in many organized cycling events in support of various charities including the Tour For Kids Bike Tour (a four day cycling adventure through central Ontario). I am an outdoor enthusiast and like to be out hiking, walking the dog, and camping whenever the chance arises.
